Montclair, NJ - It's Homecoming Day at Montclair State on Saturday and the Red Hawks will try to give their fans something additional to celebrate when it hosts The College of New Jersey in the 84th edition of the oldest active collegiate football rivarly in the Garden State.

MSU is looking to rebound following a tough 28-21 overtime loss at Christopher Newport last week. JOHN DISTEFANO rushed for 135 yards and scored twice however the Captains found the back of the end zone with 33 seconds left in regulation to force continuation of the game and won it in the second OT. The Red Hawks registered five sacks in the game, including 1.5 each from JOE FALATO and NICK CATALANO. Wide receiver JULANEE PRINCE hauled in a 50-yard touchdown.

TCNJ fell at home last week to Frostburg State 34-7. The Lions generated a season-high 254 yards of total offense in the game and matched Frostburg State with 18 first downs in the contest. But four turnovers – two intercepted passes and two lost fumbles – were costly.  Anthony Gambone finished with a game-high nine tackles. Abdelrahman Ragab recorded 2.5 tackles for a loss of 11 yards and also registered a sack for a 10-yard loss.

The teams have met every season since 1929 with the exception of the World War II years of 1942-45. The Red Hawks have won 12 of the last 17 games overall however four of the five losses are at Lions Stadium, including a 23-20 setback in 2015.
