Montclair, NJ - Senior
JENNIE HORNSTRA scored a hat trick in the first half as Montclair State found the back of the net six times in the opening 45 minutes in a 8-0 win over John Jay College at MSU Soccer Park on Monday evening.
CHRISTINE MAYORGA added a pair of goals while
EMILY BEENDERS chipped in with a goal and assist as the Red Hawks (13-3-1) posted their second straight victory and ninth win in their last 11 outings.
Hornstra gave Montclair all the scoring it would need with her first of the game at the 11:54 mark.
ALEX GLICKMAN followed three minutes later with a goal and MSU made it three in a span of four minutes as
TYLER MADISON connected off a feed from
DANIELLA GRECO at 15:42.
Hornstra, who moved into eighth place on the MSU list gor goals (32), scored back-to-back in the 24
th and 29
th minutes before Beenders tallied with 6:57 to go giving Montclair the six-goal cushion at the break.
Mayorga hit scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half to account for the final two scores.
ALYSON BURNS registered her sixth shutout of the season without facing a shot as MSU took all 19 in the match.
Hornstra and Burns were two of the five seniors honored by MSU prior to the contest. They were joined by
BROOKE TARTIS,
ERIN SULLIVAN and
KIMBERLY MIGNONE.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, October 26 as they head to Jersey City for its final NJAC contest. MSU face New Jersey City at the Thomas M. Gerrity Complex at 3:00 pm.
