Terci Hat Trick Lifts Men's Soccer Over Manhattnville, 3-2

Senior Records Second Hat Trick as MSU Wins Second Straight

Purchase, NY – Senior midfielder LUCAS TERCI scored all three goals, picking up his second hat trick of the season as Montclair State got past Manhattanville College, 3-2 on Wednesday evening.

DAMIAN BZIUKIEWICZ picked up an assist for the Red Hawks, who upped their record to 10-3 with the second consecutive one-goal win over the Valiants. Last year, Montclair recorded a 1-0 win at MSU Soccer Park on a goal in the last second. MSU is 5-0-2 all-time against the Valiants (8-4).

A bit of a back-and-forth contest with the host getting the first goal of the game at the 17:03 mark. Michael Jean-Charles blasted a free kick from 35 yards out that was deflected by Omar Parra into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. It was Parra's 12th goal of the season.

Montclair State would get that goal back with 8:30 left in the first half. Bziukiewicz served a cross into the box where Terci was able to redirect it past the keeper for his 16th of the season and the 1-1.

The Valiants went back up on top 9:08 into the second half. Robin Schaufele sent a ball into the box where Oskar Martinsson made a sliding finish for a 2-1 Manhattanville advantage. The lead lasted just 11 seconds as Terci scored again, this time with a finish inside the far post after settling a cross into the box.

MSU then took the lead at 63:15 when Terci converted a penalty kick.

Manhattanville had a chance to tie moments later as Jefferson Santos floated a ball toward the goal that was tipped away by MIKE SAALFRANK. The Valiants would add four more shots, including a low-driving shot by Felippe Gallo with 2:56 left. That was scooped up by Saalfrank, who finished with five saves in the contest.

Montclair outshot Manhattanville 19-12 with the Valiants holding the 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

MSU is back in action with a home match against No. 3 and unbeaten Rowan University on Saturday, October 8 at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff of the NJAC contest is slated for 7:00 pm.
