Montclair, NJ – Jordy Bonvini and Casey Armstrong each scored twice during a game-ending four-goal run as Muhlenberg College pulled away for an 11-7 victory over Montclair State at Sprague Field on Saturday.
Armstrong and Kesley Nagle scored three goal apiece as the Mules remained unbeaten at 6-0 while collecting its second win against MSU in six tries.
CHELSEA ORBAN and
FRANCESCA VERRONE scored two times each for the Red Hawks, who had their two-game winning streak snapped. MSU is now 4-3.
Tied 5-5 at halftime, Verrone gave Montclair State a one-goal lead with her second of the game and 12
th of the year with 24:41 to play. Nora Fisher answered five minutes later with a power-play scored wnr Nagle's second 32 seconds later put the Mules in front 7-6.
Oraban found
SERENA HITCHINS with 14:36 remaining to tie the game again at 7-7 however that would be the last goal Montclair State would get. Armstrong pushed Muhlenberg back in front with 13:43 to go and its took just 28 seconds for its to become a two-goal lead as Bonvini tallied the first of her two scores. Bonvini finished off a feed from Nagle three minutes later before Armstrong bookended the run with 8:53 left for an 11-7 lead.
The teams traded the first six goals as Nora Fisher and Orban each scored in the first 10 minutes of the game.
KASEY MAGUIRE gave MSU a 2-1 lead but that would be short-lived as Armstrong scored two minutes later forging at 2-2 tie.
AVIANA PARAGGIO got the Red Hawks back in front with 15:30 to play but that would be answered on Amanda Tullo's goal with 11:30 left.
Verrone's first of the game with 6:28 remaining in the opening period and Orban's goal with two minutes left gave MSU a 5-3 lead. But Nagle scored twice, including the second with three ticks left as the teams went into the break deadlocked at 5-5.

REBECCA MYERS stopped three shots. Hitchins led the Red Hawks with four ground balls.
MSU is off until next Saturday, March 26 when it hosts Rensselaer at Sprague Field beginning at 1:00 pm.
