Women's Lacrosse Tops FDU-Florham for Third Straight Win, 8-6

Lare, Verrone, Maguire Two Goals Each for Red Hawks

Madison, NJ - Juniors LINDSAY LARE, and FRANCESCA VERRONE and senior KASEY MAGUIRE each scored twice as Montclair State captured its third straight victory, topping FDU-Florham 8-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Senior KARA CRAMPTON had a goal and assist as MSU closed out its non-conference schedule at 7-3. Montclair's final six games will all be in the New Jersey Athletic Conference starting next Saturday, April 9 against nationally-ranked The College of New Jersey.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead which held up throughout the contest. Maguire scored on an un assisted tally in the first 1:34 of the game and Verrone followed with the next two goals off assists from Crampton and defender MEREDITH KING for a 3-0 advantage with 18:03 to go in the first half. The teams traded the next five goals of the half with AVIANA PARAGGIO and Lare scored for MSU giving the Red Hawks a 5-3 lead at the half.

The alternating of goals continued into the second half untl FDU's Joelle Manganella scored with 12:16 left trimming the lead to 6-5. Six minutes would go by before Montclair found the back of the net as Lare collected her second off an assist from SERENA HITCHINS. Crampton followed 64 seconds later with a goal pushing the lead back to 8-5.

Manganella tallied with 4:04 left to make it a two-goal contest and then it became a defensive batter. The Devils wold get off a pair of shots in the final 30 seconds with one going wide. Goalkeeper REBECCA MYERS then made a stop on a free-position attempt with four seconds to seal the victory.

Myers finished with two saves while ALEXANDRA TEPPER stopped two shots in 18 minutes of action. Verrone and Laya Issa forced three turnovers apiece for the Red Hawks while Maguire posted a pair. Verrone also had two draw controls and a team-best five ground balls.
