Montclair, NJ - For the third time in four games, Montclair State will be on the road although this one a short trip as the Red Hawks make the nine-mile trek to Wayne to face William Paterson.
MSU is coming off a thrilling come-from-behind victory last week over Rowan. Running back
JOHN DISTEFANO rushed from nine yards out with 49 seconds left lifting Montclair to a 21-14 victory.
RYAN ADZIMA engineered the 57-yard game-winning drive completing a pair of passes while rushing for 14 yards on a scramble setting up the go-ahead touchdown. Nick Catlano and
JOE FALATO each had 10 tackles while
FRANK GRECO recovered a pair of fumbles.
William Paterson fell to Kean at home, 24-13. James Waldron went 14-for-30 for 127 yards, and Anthony DiMarsico was 5-for-8 for 111 yards and a touchdown. He also caught seven passes for 71 yards, and rushed 10 times for 30 yards. Junior linebacker Charles Faulkner led the defense with 13 tackles, and Omar Mahmoud made 11 stops. Senior defensive back Pat Moran added nine tackles to his interception. Sophomore defensive back Haneef Jennings picked off a pass and collected seven stops (four solo) and a pass breakup.
This will be the 46th meeting between the two local rivals who are separated by nine miles. Montclair has dominated the series winning 42 of the 45 meetings with one tie mixed in. MSU has won the last 22 games including a 64-7 victory at home last season.
