ZOE CURTIS scored 14 points leading four players in double figures as No. 18 Montclair State rolled to its third straight victory in a 69-38 triumph against Ramapo College at the Bradley Center on Wednesday evening.
Senior
RACHAEL KRAUSS had 11 points and three rebounds for the Red Hawks (17-1, 10-1 NJAC), who swept the season series from the Roadrunners. MSU defeated Ramapo 57-46 at the Panzer Athletic Center on November 30.
Krauss had all 11 of her points in the first half when MSU limited the hosts to just 2-of-20 shooting from the floor.
KATIE SIRE scored the first bucket of the game and
SAGE BENNETT added the next three for an early 5-0 advantage. Montclair went 7-of-8 from the line in the first quarter, including
two by
KATE TOBIE en route to a 16-5 lead.
Ramapo got the first basket of the second quarter however MSU embarked on an 18-2 run over a three-plus minute span to build a 34-9 lead with five minutes to go before halftime. Krauss hit three times from behind the arc with Curtis capping the run with 5:10 to go.
MSU outscored the Roadrunners 24-7 in the period and led 40-12 at the break.
Sire and
TAYLOR HARMON finished with 10 points apiece for the Red Hawks. Sire grabbed a team-high nine rebounds while Tobie, Harmon and
YAZMINE LACEY each pulling down five.
The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, January 28 for their second meeting of the season against Rowan University. MSU and the Profs tipoff at 3:00 pm inside the Panzer Athletic Center.
