Montclair, NJ - Montclair State heads back out on the road for another long trip as it travels to the Maryland panhandle for a matchup with No. 16 Frostburg State.
The Red Hawks will be looking to bounce back following a 28-10 loss at home to Salisbury last Saturday.
HUNTER DALY connected on a 25-yard field goal and
JULANEE PRINCE pulled in a 13-yard touchdown grab for MSU. Linebacker
MAURO ALTAMURA led the defense with 15 tackles and a sack while
NICK CATALANO and
SHAON STEPHENSON each had 10. Quarterback John Apicella completed 23 passes for 215 yards including 10 to
TAJ HUGGINS.
The Bobcats played just nine miles away at William Paterson University and came away with a 59-7 victory against the Pioneers. Frostburg State racked up 559 yards of total offense and scored the first 45 points of the game.Quarterback Connor Cox completed over 89 percent of his passes, throwing for 294 yards and a career-high four touchdowns on 17-of-19 completions. Jake Broschart led Frostburg with eight tackles while Zach Strand finished with two sacks.
This is the eighth meeting between the Red Hawks and Bobcats in a series that dates back to 1962. It was 40 years before the next meeting (2002) and they met each of the next three seasons before an 11-year hiatus took place after the 2005 campaign. Montclair State won the renewal game 33-27 in Maryland in 2015. Frostburg captured last year's battle, 24-6 at MSU.
