Box Score 2 Rochester, NY – The Montclair State volleyball team closed out its regular season with a pair losses in the New York Regional Challenge at the University of Rochester on Saturday.
The Red Hawks (13-19) were swept by Fredonia 3-0 and lost to Rochester Institute of Technology in four sets.
Sophomore
JILLIAN WILSON had seven kills and five blocks for MSU in the loss to Fredonia as the Blue Devils took the match 25-22, 25-20 and 25-18.
NATALIA MAJKUT added four kills and three blocks while
CAITLIN LANGE recorded the same numbers.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH came up with 21 assists and five digs with libero
LILY SCANZILLO registering 18 digs.
Against RIT, the Red Hawks won the first set 27-25 before dropping the next three 25-21, 25-12, 25-19.
SCHYLER WHITE led MSU with 11 kills along with seven digs. Wilson,
APRIL DIANGELO, Lange and
SARAH GONCZLIK posted four kills apiece. Griffith totaled 19 assist along with four digs with Scanzillo tacking on another 15 digs to finish with 33 on the day.
Majkut and Scanzillo were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Montclair State now heads into the NJAC Tournament where it will host Rowan University in the first round on Tuesday, October 31 at 7pm. The Red Hawks, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, edged the now fifth-seeded Profs in five sets earlier this season in Glassboro, NJ, capturing the last two.
