Newark, NJ - The Montclair State men's soccer team lost 2-1 to Rutgers-Newark in the New Jersey Atlantic Conference semifinal on Wednesday evening to end the season.

Senior forward and team's leading goal scorer MIKE TARANTO got the Red Hawks in front in the 34' following up on freshman CHAZ BURNETT's blast from 30 yards out. The Scarlet Raiders would equalize in exactly three minutes later from a free-kick and ultimately scored the game-winner in the 72'.

Montclair State falls to 13-7-1, while Rutgers-Newark improved to 19-2-0 overall and faces top seeded Rowan University in NJAC final on Saturday. The Profs prevailed in double overtime against the fifth seed Stockton University.

The Red Hawks needed to advance to the NJAC final and eventually win the tournament to have any shot at punching their ticket to the NCAA Championship tournament but came up short
