Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team is set to face Rowan University in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday.
The fifth-seeded Red Hawks (13-12) and fourth-seeded Profs (16-9) square off at 3:00 pm in Glassboro at the Esby Gymnasium. The winner advances to the semifinals on Tuesday, March 21 at top-seeded Ramapo.

Montclair State is back in the NJAC Tournament for the first time in three years. MSU is making its 18
th appearance overall and first since 2014. The Red Hawks are 12-14 in their previous trips with three championships, the last coming in 2003. Montclair lost to Rutgers-Newark 81-73 in the first round in 2014.
Saturday's contest marks the fifth time Montclair and Rowan meet in the NJAC Tournament which includes title game clashes in 1981 and 1994. The Red Hawks won the last playoff meeting, 83-72 in the 2008 first round behind Chris McCann's 20 points.
Rowan leads the all-time series between the teams 70-52 however Montclair State won both meetings this season.
BRANDON CHANNER scored 23 points leading five players in double figures as MSU posted a 92-78 win in Glassboro on December 10.
DANIEL RAMIS (17 points) connected five times from three-point range while
JOVANNI CHATHAM and
JUSTIN PORTER each scored 15 points.
The Red Hawks captured the return engagement at the Panzer Athletic Center on January 28. Channer led the way again with a huge double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds. Chatham added 20 off the bench with
VINCE ANFIELD getting 10 as the Red Hawks shot 60 percent from the field in the game and held a 10-point halftime lead before holding off the Profs in the second half.
