Men's Lacrosse Rolls to Third Straight Win, 18-8

Haemmerle's 9-Point Day Leads MSU Past Mount St. Mary

Newburgh, NY – Sophomore MATT HAEMMERLE totaled nine points on five goals and four assists helping Montclair State to its third straight victory in a 18-8 win at Mount St. Mary on Saturday afternoon.

SKYLER FRANCISCO, DAN BELLEZZA and BRADY WULSTER had two goals apiece as the Red Hawks (3-6) remained perfect in Skyline Conference play at 3-0. The Knights fell to 4-6 overall, 2-2 in the league.

Montclair scored the first six goals, including all four in the first period. Haemmerle got the first with 10:23 left and needed just eight seconds to record another finishing off a feed from BLASE MANTINEO on the ensuing faceoff. JAMES CLARKE connected a little more than a minute later and Bellezza's goal with 1:45 to play made the score 4-0.

???????Wulster and Haemmerle each scored to open the second before Mount St. Mary snapped the string with 6:34 left before halftime. MSU closed out the half with the final three goals with Wulster, Bellezza and RYAN ANZALONE each connected.

The Knights began the second half with the first two goals both by Danny Kugler but Montclair ripped off the next three to take a 12-3 advantage with 8:54 remaining in the third.

Montclair registered 50-plus shots for a second straight contest, putting up 52 compared to just 24 by the Knights. The Red Hawks dominated at the "X" winning 25-of-30 in the game, including 14-of-15 by Mantineo, who entered the game No. 7 in the nation in faceoff percentage. Montclair State also totaled 50 ground balls in the game, including 12 by defenseman RYAN YOUNG, who finished one behind the single-game record.

Young also forced three turnovers while NICK SNOW and JON RICE had two each. Mantineo and MATT AXMANN, who won 11-of-15 face off attempts had eight and six ground balls, respectively.

The Red Hawks return to action on Tuesday, April 4 in Skyline Conference play again. MSU travels to Patchogue, NY to face St. Joseph's (LI) at 7:00 pm.
