Men's Lacrosse Tops Farmingdale State for 7th in a Row, 15-7

Bellezza Three Goals, Three Assists as MSU Stays Unbeaten in Skyline

Montclair, NJ – Sophomore midfielder DAN BELLEZZA scored three times and assisted on three other goals as Montclair State posted its seventh straight victory with a 15-7 win over Farmingdale State on Wednesday evening.

MATT HAEMMERLE added three goals and two assists as the Red Hawks remained unbeaten in the Skyline Conference at 7-0 while jumping past the .500 mark for the first time this season at 7-6.

Ryan Wieczorek had four goals, setting a new single-season record for the Rams, who fell to 10-5 on the year, 4-4 in the Skyline.

JAMES CLARKE and ROB SKEELS scored 27 seconds apart early in the first with Haemmerle's first goal giving Montclair State at 3-0 lead with 6:55 to play in the opening period. The Rams answered with the final three of the period, including Wierczorek's first with seven ticks left.

MSU provided all the scoring in the second quarter. DON FINN scored unassisted four minutes in putting the Red Hawks back on top 4-3. COREY CARLSON and Bellezza combined on the next two goals giving Montclair a 6-3 advantage at the break.

Jake Borresen opened the second half with a goal for Farmingdale however BRADY WULSTER answered with a man-up tally with 10:03 to go. After Wieczorek's second goal, MSU tallied the next three. The first two cam man-up as Carlson and Haemmerle found the back of the net. GRIFFIN WOODFINLEVINE got the last finishing a feed from Haemmerle with seven seconds as Montclair led 10-5 after three.

Wierczorek began the fourth with hits record-tying goal trimming the deficit to 10-6 but the Red Hawks put the game away with five of the last six goals. Haemmerle had a man-up goal with 6:13 remaining before assisting on a goal by DAN DELARGY with three minutes to play making the score 14-7. Defensemen RYAN YOUNG and JON RICE combined on the final goal.

Carlson finished with a goal and four assists while Wulster connected twice. Rice forced three turnovers while BLASE MANTINEO went 15-of-22 on faceoffs with seven ground balls. LUCAS JONES had nine saves and seven ground balls.

Montclair State is back in action on Saturday, April 22 as it heads to Throggs Neck, NY to face Maritime College at 1:00 pm.
