Montclair, NJ – Sophomore
MATT HAEMMERLE scored three times as 16 players found the back of the net for Montclair State in a 21-5 win over Purchase College at Sprague Field on Monday evening.
JOHN SLATER finished with two goals and two assists for the Red Hawks (9-6), who extended their winning streak to nine games while closing out its sixth consecutive Skyline Conference slate at 9-0.
MSU will be the No. 1 seed in the Skyline Tournament. Montclair, which received a first-round bye will host a semifinal contest on Wednesday, May 3 against the Farmingdale State/Kean winner at 7:00 pm.
The Red Hawks scored 10 times in the opening period. Haemmerle put MSU on the board 20 seconds into the game and the set up
DAN BELLEZZA 1:14 later for the quick 2-0 advantage. Montclair then scored three times in a 28 second span for a five-goal advantage.

BRADY WULSTER each had one.
Haemmerle's second with 10:58 to go made the score 6-0 and his third two minutes later pushed the lead to 8-0.
Dylan Gethicker snapped the run with an unassisted tally however MSU added two more, including oe from Bellezza with five seconds left in the first.
Bellezza and Francisco each had two goals while
BRYAN PETERS and
ROB PAPA had a goal and two assists apiece.
MATT AXMANN was 15-of-26 on faceoffs with eight ground balls.
JACK CARDEW made seven saves.
Montclair State closes out its regular-season schedule on Wednesday, April 26 in Schenectady, NY against Union College at 5:00 pm.
