Union, NJ – The Montclair State softball team saw it season come to an end on Saturday as the Red Hawks were edged by Stockton University 3-2 in the NJAC Tournament at Kean University.
Sophomore
ALI WALEK belted a two-run homer for MSU, which finished the season at 22-18 with each of the final four losses on the year coming by a one-run margin.
The Ospreys, who won the rubber match between the teams, took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Casey Schieda belted a solo home run. Walek answered in the bottom of the frame with a two-run shot giving Montclair a 2-1 lead.
The Ospreys (22-19-1) tied the score in the fourth with a two-out infield single bringing in the tying run and Stockton grabbed the lead in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Cosenzo.
Hannah Bibeault (12-10) got the win for Stockton, which advanced in the tournament and will face William Paterson on Saturday evening.
KIARA RUIZ (3-3) took the loss for MSU.
