Mitchell-White Keys Men's Basketball Victory Over Ramapo, 74-60

Freshman Posts Double-Double as Red Hawks Win Third Straight

Montclair, NJ – Freshman guard MYLES MITCHELL-WHITE registered his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds leading four players in double figures as Montclair State knocked off Ramapo College 74-60 at the Panzer Athletic Center on Wednesday evening.

DANIEL RAMIS added 12 points while EDDIE EMEDOH and KAAN YILMAZ each had 10 points and six rebounds as the Red Hawks won their third straight. MSU (14-5, 8-4 NJAC), snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Roadrunners winning for the first time since a 75-73 victory on February 12, 2012.

Senior forward Christopher Mosley finished with a game-high 26 points for the Roadrunners, who had their four-game winning streak snapped with the loss. Ramapo fell to 14-5 overall, 10-2 in conference play.

Ramapo grabbed an early 10-6 lead less than four minutes in before Montclair State scored 18 of the next 21 points to take what turned out to be the lead for good. Yilmaz began the sput with a jumper and a three-pointer by JUSTIN PORTER put MSU in front 11-10. JOSEPH RADI later added a three-pointer and back-to-back threes by Yilmz and Ramis gave the Red Hawks a 24-13 lead with 8:27 left in the opening half.

A dunk by Emedoh extended the lead to 30-17 with Radi burying another from behind the arc for a 41-24 advantage with 2:33 left. JORDAN ROBERSON scored with a minute left as MSU went into the locker room up 43-27 at the break.

Mitchell-White netted two from the line early in the second pushing the lead to 54-29. The Roadrunners would make a push, whittling the lead down to 60-46 as Mosley hit a short jumper with 9:02 to play
Montclair State scored the next nine points, seven coming at the line including the last by Porter with 5:57 to go making the score 69-46. Ramapo closed out the game with a 14-5 run for the final margin.

The Red Hawks shot 46 percent from the field for the game including 67 percent in the first half. Porter added six points and five rebounds for Montclair, which outrebounded the Roadrunners 46-33 in the game. JARRETT BOGUS and JORDAN ROBERSON grabbed four caroms apiece.

Montclair State is back in action on Saturday, January 27 with a road NJAC contest in Glassboro against Rowan University. Tipoff is slated for 3:00 pm.
