Men's Soccer Fit to Be Tied in Draw at Stockton

Red Hawks, Ospreys Finishes in 1-1 Deadlock

Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State men's soccer team was 87 seconds away from an 11 straight victory, Stockton University got the equalizing goal as the Red Hawks and Ospreys played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hawks had their winning streak turned into an unbeaten streak as MSU is now 14-1-2 on the season, 6-0-1 in conference play. Montclair maintained its first-place lead in the NJAC standings. Montclair has 19 points with two matches to play, six points ahead of Rutgers-Camden and eight in front of Stockton.

Montclair struck first in the contest as freshman midfielder BROGAN QUIGLEY collected his first goal of the year with a perfect strike from 18 yards out.

MSU took that one-goal advantage into the second have and had a quick chance to increase it however Stockton keeper Michael Lescano made a save against DAMIAN KOLODZIEJ. The Ospreys then put MIKE SAALFRANK to the test with five shots on the goal with each one kept out of the net until the final 1:30.

Off a foul by MSU, Christian Bik sent a direct kick from the top of the box into the back of the net for his sixth of the season and a 1-1 tie.

Each goalkeeper would make on save early in the overtime with Lescano adding another with 1:07 left denying KEVIN SIMEK. The Red Hawks outshot Stockton 4-1 in the second OT however none of the attempts were on frame.

Saalfrank finished with seven saves for Montclair State, which outshot the hosts by the slim 21-20 margin.

The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, October 20 when they host The College of New Jersey at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff of the NJAC contest, which will also be Senior Day, is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
