CARLY WATERMAN posted a double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs however Montclair State dropped a 3-1 decision to Hunter College at the Panzer Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.
Marlena Budna had a match-high 15 kills for the Hawks (21-7), who jumped back into the lead in the all-time series between the teams 12-11. Hunter won the match by set scores of 25-15, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-23.

SIYARA HERBERT totaled 19 digs for Montclair State (16-7), which had its four-match winning streak halted with the loss.
The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and extended the advantage to 11-4 on a kill by Taylor Haiduk. Montclair battled back within 14-10 however consecutive kills by Emily Wasson, Kylie Hurst and a block by Budna and Hurst boosted the lead to 18-10. Budna's fifth kill made the score 20-12. Hurst would get the final point on a kill as Hunter led 1-0 following the 25-15 triumph.
LEAH HIGGINS collected seven kills in the second as the Red Hawks evened the match at 1-1. Herbert served two aces and four points in a row helping MSU take an 11-6 lead. Hunter got within four three times, the last at 22-18 on an ace by Hayley Trunkett. Higgins answered with a kill and after two errors she added another as MSU took the second 25-19
The third set stayed relatively close with Hunter holding a 21-19 lead before netting two straight. Wasson had a kill and then teamed with Budna on a block for a 23-19 lead.
JILLIAN WILSON and
SCHYLER WHITE countered with kills for Montclair pulling the Red Hawks within 23-21. Hurst had a kill to end that short rally with Budna closing out the set as Hunter led 2-1.
After an early deficit, Montclair State led for a majority of the fourth set and was up 21-20 when Wasson knotted things up with a kill. An error gave MSU the lead back however Hunter pulled off back-to-back blocks to go back in front 23-22. The teams traded attack errors before Hurst ended the match with her 12
th kill of the evening.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH finished with 42 digs and a pair of aces for Montclair which got eight kills and three blocks from senior
NATALIA MAJKUT and six kills from Wilson. White added five kills and four blocks with
APRIL DIANGELO reach double figures in digs with 13.
The Red Hawks will close out their regular season this weekend in Rochester, NY in the New York Regional Challenge. MSU will face Cortland and RIT at Nazareth College on Friday, October 26 at 5:00 and 7:00 pm respectively.
