No. 13 Men's Soccer Rolls Past Kean in Regular-Season Finale, 5-0

Seaman Two Goals; Saalfrank Sets Goalkeeper Win Mark

Union, NJ – Senior JAKE SEAMAN scored twice as No. 13 Montclair State finished its regular season with a flourish as the Red Hawks blanked Kean University 5-0 at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Senior RAFAEL TERCI added a goal and assist while senior MIKE SAALFRANK became the all-time winningest goalkeeper in program history as the Red Hawks (15-1-2) extended their unbeaten streak to 13 with the victory. MSU finished 8-0-1 in conference play, the sixth time it has accomplished that feat and first since a 9-0 mark in 2008.

The Red Hawks will be the No. 1 seed in the NJAC Tournament which begins on Saturday, October 27 with first-round action. Montclair has a bye and will host a semifinal at MSU Soccer Park on Tuesday, October 30 at 7:00 pm against the winner of No. 4 seed Rowan University and No. 5 Stockton University

Seaman gave MSU the only goal it needed in the 30th minute as he flicked a shot past the keeper for his fourth of the season. The lead got to 2-0 before halftime as the Red Hawks were the beneficiary of an own goal when Kean defender tried to move a ball off the backline that went in with 17 ticks to go before intermission.

Seaman added his second goal 6:20 into the new half banging in a cross that fell on to his feet after getting through traffic. Montclair added another four minutes later with KEVIN SIMEK getting his second of the season beating the keeper in a 1-on-1 after Terci sent a ball through.

Terci added the final goal with 28:42 remaining off a free kick deflection for his ninth of the year.

Saalfrank stopped five shots as he posted his seventh shutout of the season while picking up his 57th career victory. He moved ahead of Nick Mele, who recorded 56 from 2005-2008.
