Senior Day Highlights Football's Final Home Game Against Rowan

Red Hawks, Profs Battle on Saturday

Montclair, NJ - It's the final home game for the Red Hawks in 2018 as Montclair State hosts Rowan University on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1pm.

The Red Hawks are coming off a big win over No. 20 Wesley last week, a 10-9 triumph in Dover. JA'QUILL BURCH hit KASON CAMPBELL for a 6-yard TD pass early in the fourth quarter as the MSU defense shutout the Wolverines over the final three quarters. Safety JAIER GARRETT had 11 tackles in the victory

The final home game of the season means it's time to honor the Red Hawks Senior Class of 2018. Eleven members will make their final appearance at Sprague Field, a class that has helped MSU to its best season in four years. Leading the group are captains MAURO ALTAMURA and JAKE WEBER, quarterback JOHN APICELLA, offensive lineman JON KOONCE, tight end CURTIS PENDLETON, running back WILLIE BARR; defensive lineman RODNEY DIPRENDA, JR.; linebackers LIAM NELSON and GIUSEPPE GUGLIUZZA, safety DYLAN ELLIOTT and kicker HUNTER DALY.

This will be the 58th meeting between the Red Hawks and Profs with MSU holding a 33-24 advantage. Montclair has won nine of the last 12 contests, including the last two, the most recent 13-3 in Glassboro last season. Montclair and Rowan began its series in 1949 and played again in 1950 before it was put on hold. The schools renewed their rivalry in 1964 when Rowan (then Glassboro State) reinstated the football program.

Montclair State won that 1964 contest 21-20 en route to an undefeated season. Playing against Montclair that day was a freshman offensive end named Rick Giancola, the same Giancola who now leads the Red Hawks. Giancola, the current winningest active coach in Division III (245) is a member of both school's Hall of Fame.
