Haemmerle's Double Hat Trick Paces MSU to Third Straight Victory, 14-10

Junior Scores Six Times; Wulster Three Goals, Bellezza Five-Point Night

Glenside, PA – Junior attack MATT HAEMMERLE continued his torrid scoring pace of late with six goals as Montclair State captured its third straight contest with a 14-10 victory at Arcadia University on Wednesday evening.

Senior BRADY WULSTER netted three goals while DAN BELLEZZA added two along with three assists as the Red Hawks improved to 7-4 on the season. Nick Ferraro and Clo Muscara had three goals each for the Knights (6-5).

After scoring seven goals in MSU's last contest, Haemmerle got the double hat trick starting with the first goal of the contest 32 seconds in. Muscara tied the game two minutes later however Montclair tallied the next two for a 3-1 lead after one period. JOHN MORAN and Bellezza each scored.

A Wulster man-up goal to start the second quarter pushed the lead to three and consecutive goals by Haemmerle gave the Red Hawks a 7-3 advantage with 4:52 to go. Muscara's goal with just under four minutes trimmed the deficit to three goals but back-to-back man-up tallied by Wulster and Haemmerle 35 seconds apart widened the lead to 9-4 at halftime.

The Knights scored the first two goals of the third however Montclair countered that with a four-goal run that bridged into the fourth quarter. Mike Waslik got the run going and Wulster had another man-up score before Moran got his second with 5:37 left making the score 12-6. Bellezza found the back of the net 2:13 into the fourth putting MSU in front 13-7.

Goalkeepers MATTHEW MCLAREN and JACK CARDEW each played a half and stopped five and four shots respectively. Bellezza added five ground balls with NICK SNOW posting four and two caused turnovers.

The Red Hawks return to action on Sunday, April 22 when it hosts Colorado College at Sprague Field beginning at Noon. Prior to the game, Montclair will dedicate and cut the ribbon for the John A. Greco Men's Lacrosse Team Room named after former head coach John Greco, who guided the Red Hawks from 2003-2010 before passing away in November 2010. Greco led the Red Hawks to back-to-back Skyline Conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010.
