Ewing, NJ – The Montclair State softball team's bid for a second straight NJAC Tournament berth was dashed on Saturday as the Red Hawks dropped both games of their doubleheader at The College of New Jersey at Dr. June Walker Field.
The Red Hawks fell to the No. 25 Lions 8-0 and 6-1 finishing the regular season at 23-13, 9-9 in conference play, one game out of the final spot in the upcoming league tournament. Meanwhile TCNJ (28-6, 16-2) claimed the No. 1. First as Lauren Conroy
In the opener, MSU had trouble figuring out freshman righthander Alanna Namit, who remained perfect on the year at 14-0 after a three-hit shutout. Namit struck out seven and walked two. Sophomore
KIARA RUIZ (6-4) took the loss for the Red Hawks.
The Lions got the only run they would need in the first inning as Lauren Conroy collected an RBI single. Annalise Suitovsky doubled home two runs in the second and Jess McGuire added a two-run single in the third for a 5-0. TCNJ tacked on three runs in the sixth for the final.
AMBER POWERS was 1-for-3 with a triple for Montclair State.
The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second contest as Maddy Levine and Conroy picked up RBIs in the first inning. TCNJ added two runs in the fourth and led 6-0 in the sixth inning after Suitovsky doubled home a run.

Sam Platt (9-4) got the victory allowing a run and six hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
NICOLE MAJEWSKI (10-3) suffered the loss for Montclair State.
