Dover, DE – Wesley College's Ruhann Peele scored the first and last touchdowns of the game, the second coming in overtime lifting the 15th-ranked Wolverines to a 20-17 victory over Montclair State at Drass Field on Saturday afternoon.
Wesley tied the game with 38 seconds remaining to force the bonus football as it raised its record to 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in the NJAC.
ZAHIR WILDER returned an interception for a touchdown for the Red Hawks (3-4, 2-2 NJAC), who had their two-game winning streak snapped.
In a defensive battle, Montclair led 14-7 with 3:23 when it punted the ball back to the Wolverines with a 15-yard penalty giving the hosts the ball at their own 42. After getting a first down on its second play, Wesley faced a 4
th-and-15 from the MSU 48 when Jon Mullin hit Peele for the exact yardage needed keeping the drive alive.
Mullin later hit Leroy Pendleton for 21 yards down to the MSU seven however three straight incompletions left the Wolverines with a 4
th and goal with 45 seconds left. Mullin came through again hitting Ricky Hess for the touchdown tying the score at 14-14 with 38 seconds to play.
In the overtime, Montclair got the ball first and settled for a 35-yard field goal by
ANTHONY MARINELLI for a 17-14 lead. Wesley took possession and Mulling connected with Hess on the second play down to the MSU 9. Back-to-back runs put the ball a yard from the end zone. Peele then rumbled in for the winning score.
Peele put Wesley up 7-0 in the first quarter with a three-yard run capping off a 10-play drive with 9:49 to play.
KASON CAMPBELL helped set up Montclair's first score in the second as he blocked a field goal attempt giving the Red Hawks the ball at its own 41.

CRAIG MERKLE ran the next play into the end zone tying the game at 7-7 with 8:04 to go before half.
Wilder then came up with the big defensive play late in the second quarter picking off a Mullin pass and bringing it back 31 yards with 35 seconds left as Montclair went into halftime up 14-7.
JAIER GARRETT finished with 14 tackles, including three for losses for the defense.
ZACK ZACCONE also totaled 14 tackles and added an interception while
JAMES CHUKWURAH had 10 and a pair of pass breakups.
Montclair State returns to action next Saturday, November 2 with its final road contest of the season. MSU heads to Glassboro, NJ to face Rowan University at 1:00 pm.
