Ewing, NJ – The Montclair State men's soccer team picked up a key NJAC victory on Saturday as the Red Hawks knocked off The College of New Jersey, 3-1 at Lions Stadium.

OSCAR SANCHEZ each netted a goal as the Red Hawks (13-4-1) extended its unbeaten streak to seven but more importantly upped its record to 5-2-1 in conference play.
Montclair is currently sitting in second place, a half-game ahead of Rutgers-Camden who plays at William Paterson on Saturday evening. The top two teams earn a first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.
Huerta gave the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead four minutes into the match as he blasted a shot from the top right of the box for his fourth of the season. The Red Hawks would come very close to extending that lead in the 29
th minute however Knapp's shot was swept away off the backline by a defender.
Holding on to that one-goal lead in the second half, Knapp would find the back of the net heading in a corner kick from
ANTHONY PELAEZ at 49:05 making the score 2-0. TCNJ cut that deficit in half in the 65
th minute. Michael Matese had a penalty kick denied by MSU goalkeeper
DEAN DEPINTO however Maltese alertly knocked in the rebound for his fourth of the season.
Sanchez provided the insurance goal with 4:06 to play finishing off a breakway with a close shot from the left side. It was the team-leading 12
th goal of the year for the freshman.
DePinto made three saves for the victory with the Lions' Daniel Mecadon stopping four shots.
Montclair State closes out its regular season on Wednesday, October 30 at home against Kean University with kickoff on Senior Night set for 7:00 pm.
