Men's Lacrosse Breezes in CSAC Tournament Tune-Up

Red Hawks Roll Past Keystone, 22-2

LaPlume, PA – Senior MATT HAEMMERLE scored five goals while JESSE JAMES WEST contributed three as Montclair State closed out its regular-season schedule with a 22-2 victory over Keystone College on Tuesday evening.

CAL MACKENZIE added a hat trick as the Red Hawks (9-7) won their fourth straight and finished their first season in the Colonial States Athletic Conferece at 5-1. MSU will be the No. 2 in the upcoming conference tournament which begins on Saturday, April 27 with semifinal action. Montclair will host No. 3 seed Kean University at 1:00 pm. The teams met last Saturday with Montclair State posting a 22-15 victory.

West scored off a Haemmerle feed 36 seconds into the game with the latter getting the next two making the score 3-0 with 8:20 left in the opening period. STEVE PRINCE and West scored 52 seconds apart to push the lead to five. Haemmerle registered back-to-back goals with West closing out the quarter with his second as Montclair State led 8-0.

CARTER GILPIN began the second with a man-down goal for MSU. Sean Stadlander and Haemmerle also had goals increasing the lead to 11-0 with 10:51 remaining. JON LANZALOTTO and ROBERT BRENNAN recorded the next goals and a score by DAN BELLEZZA with 4:16 left made it a 14-0 contest. CHRISTIAN BOYLE and TYLER MCCREERY finished off the quarter for MSU which led 16-0 at the break.

Bellezza finished with a goal and five assists for MSU while DAN DELARGY chipped in with a goal and three assists. MSU dominated on faceoffs winning 27-of-28 in the contest. KYLE MATTHEWS was 9-of-10 with DARIO SIRNI and TREVOR HERBST going 9-of-9 and 8-of-8, respectively. BRICE TALBERT forced three turnovers and scooped up four ground balls.
