Springfield, MA – Sophomore outside hitter CARLY WATERMAN posted 12 kills however it would not be enough as Montclair State dropped its season opener to host Springfield College in straight sets on Friday evening.

Junior MEGAN O'ROURKE recorded a double-double of 24 assists and 10 digs as the Red Hawks (0-1) fell to the Pride 25-21, 25-15 and 26-24. Sophomore LEAH HIGGINS had five kills with junior ALEXANDRA CAMPOS leading Montclair State with 11 digs. SCHYLER WHITE, JILLIAN WILSON and CAITLIN LANGE had three kills apiece.

The Red Hawks are back in action at the Springfield College Invitational with two more matches. Montclair will face Keene State at 10:30 am followed by a 1:00 pm contest with Skidmore College.
