Montclair, NJ – Junior forward
MADDIE MUSICO scored with 1:15 remaining in regulation as Montclair State posted its fourth straight victory with 1-0 win over Vassar College on Wednesday evening at MSU Soccer Park.
CHRISTINE MAYORGA assisted on the game-winner as the Red Hawks (4-2-1) pulled off a second straight dramatic finish to extend its winning streak. Last Saturday,
CATHERINE CARNEVALE scored with one second left in the second overtime in a 1-0 win at Ursinus.
Musico's first goal of the season came just seconds after the Brewers' (2-3-1) Fiona Walsh stopped
CALLIE BOHUS. Montclair was able to get possession back and maneuvered its way back into the scoring area. Mayorga came in along the right side before flipping a pass Musico, who buried the feed into the low right corner.
Until then it appeared as though the teams would be headed to overtime as Walsh stopped five shots by the Red Hawks with counterpart
PHOEBE BLEDSOE making three, including two in the final 40 minutes. Bledsoe would go on to record her third shutout in four starts this season.
Montclair outshot Vassar 13-6 with the Brewers taking nine of the 14 corner kicks in the game.
MSU is back in action on Saturday, September 21 with its first NJAC contest of the season. Montclair hosts Rutgers-Camden at MSU Soccer Park with kickoff set for 1:00 pm.
