Madison, NJ –
JESSE JAMES WEST scored four times to lead the Montclair State men's lacrosse team to an 11-7 win over FDU-Florham Wednesday evening.
The Red Hawks (2-0) improve to 12-17 all-time against the Devils (0-2). The last meeting between the two sides was on March 26, 2008, when MSU won 12-11.
After surrendering the first goal, the Red Hawks answered back to take the lead for good.
ROBERT BRENNAN got Montclair on the board off a feed from
TYLER MCCREERY. Just 26 seconds later, West gave MSU the lead for good with an unassisted tally.

MATT DANCSECS extended the lead, but the Devils responded with two straight scores, including a man-up goal by John Belanger to make the 4-3 MSU entering the second quarter.
The Red Hawks used a three-goal run in the middle of the second stanza to extend the lead to four goals.
TYLER MCCREERY took a pass from
CHRISTIAN BOYLE to notch a man-up goal at the 6:16 mark before West added his second goal of the day 46 seconds later.
STEVE PRINCE capped off the run with an unassisted goal with 4:18 left in the frame. With 2:33 to go, Pat Stewart trimmed the Red Hawks to lead to three after scoring an unassisted goal as Montclair took a 7-4 edge into the half.
Stewart got the Devils within two with a goal 2:13 into the third quarter before West completed his hat trick at the 9:58 mark. West used a strong individual effort, corralling his own miss and beating the FDU goalkeeper. The Red Hawks continued to control play as
TYLER MCCREERY, and
SKYLER FRANCISCO netted markers with the man advantage late in the frame. Montclair received an additional West tally to give the team a commanding 11-5 lead entering the last quarter. FDU would score twice in the final period but were unable to get any closer.
West led the way with four goals on 15 shots, while
TYLER MCCREERY had three goals and an assist.
DARIO SIRNI went 11-of-17 on faceoffs while adding a team-best seven ground balls while Dancsecs caused a team-best three caused turnovers. Junior
MATTHEW MCLAREN stopped 12 saves in the victory. Adam Reifer made 16 saves in the setback for FDU while John Guido handed out three assists.
Montclair returns home on Wednesday, hosting Vassar College at 6 pm. The Red Hawks won all six previous games against the Brewers, including a 10-8 win last season in Poughkeepsie.
