Volleyball: Gameday Preview vs. William Paterson

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team travels to William Paterson for a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup Thursday evening.

The first serve is scheduled for 7 pm in Wayne, NJ, and live stats and video are available on montclairathletics.com. 
 
LAST TIME OUT

The Red Hawks (13-7, 5-1 NJAC) topped Stockton University 3-1 to move into second place in the NJAC standings with their ninth straight victory. Senior LEAH HIGGINS tallied a team-high 12 kills while classmate VICTORIA TENNON posted 10 kills and four blocks. CARLY WATERMAN was second on the team with 14 digs while adding five service aces.
 
AWARD SEASON

For the second time this season, Waterman was named the NJAC Player of the Week. In two matches last week, the senior averaged a double-double of 12.5 kills and 14.5 digs.

PIONEER REPORT

The Pioneers are 9-8 on the season, and 2-4 in the NJAC. They are coming off a four-set setback to Rutgers-Camden Tuesday in a match that they claimed the first 25-17. Leila Ksiyer paced the Pioneers with 15 kills while Kathleen Burrough notched a double-double of 17 digs and 14 kills.
 
LAST MEETING

Last spring, MSU topped William Paterson in straight sets. SKYLAR KOWALSKI tallied eight kills and four digs, while GIANNA ARIAS posted five kills and four blocks in the victory.
 
SERIES HISTORY

Montclair is 24-16 all-time against their Route 46 rivals. The Red Hawks have won 10 straight matches, dropping just three sets during the stretch. William Paterson's best time in the series came in the early 2000s when they won seven of eight matchups.
 
UP NEXT

On Saturday, the Red Hawks will head to Hunter College for a tri-match. They will face the host Hawks at 10 am before battling Mount St. Mary at noon.
