Volleyball: Gameday Preview vs. Hunter and Mount St. Mary

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team heads to New York City for a tri-match against Hunter College and Mount St. Mary Saturday.

GAME INFO
The tri-match will see Montclair face host Hunter at 10 am before battling Mount St. Mary at noon. The two other programs will meet at 2 pm in the final match of the day.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (14-7, 6-1 NJAC) rallied from a first-set setback to knock William Paterson in four frames Thursday. Senior CARLY WATERMAN posted a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore SKYLAR KOWALSKI tallied six kills and four digs.

AWARD SEASON
For the second time this season, Waterman was named the NJAC Player of the Week. In two matches last week, the senior averaged a double-double of 12.5 kills and 14.5 digs.

HUNTER REPORT
The Hawks are 8-9 on the season, including a 4-1 mark within the CUNYAC. In their last match, they suffered a setback, dropping a 3-0 decision to Baruch on Thursday. Alexa Sayson and Mariam Ouattara each tallied nine kills.

SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY
The Knights are 10-9, and 4-4 within the Skyline Conference. They have won two straight matches, topping Sarah Lawrence in four sets and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in consecutive sets.

LAST MEETING
Montclair fell to Hunter in four sets on October 23, 2018. CARLY WATERMAN notched a double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs. The Red Hawks downed the Knights in three frames on September 14, 2019. GIANNA ARIAS led the way with seven kills and five blocks in the victory.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 11-12 all-time against Hunter, having dropped three of the last four meetings. The Red Hawks are 2-0 against Mount St. Mary, winning straight sets in 2017 and 2019.
