Volleyball: Gameday Preview vs. St. Joseph's-Long Island and Neumann

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team hosts St. Joseph's-Long Island and Neumann University in a tri-match Saturday.

GAME INFO
Montclair will host St. Joseph's-LI at 11 am and Neumann at 3, while the middle match will see the Golden Eagles and Knights face off at 1 pm.
 
LAST TIME OUT
On Tuesday evening, the Red Hawks (8-7) knocked off Rutgers-Newark in New Jersey Athletic Conference action. The Montclair defense held Rutgers-Newark to a .000 hitting percentage and forced them into 18 attack errors. KATELYN MONAGHAN led the defensive unit with 17 digs, while DELANEY ST. PIERRE filled the stat sheet with 31 assists, eight digs, and seven kills.

ST. JOSEPH'S-LONG ISLAND REPORT
The Golden Eagles are 4-4 on the year and have won three of the last four games they played. They knocked off SUNY Maritime 3-0 on September 30, as Amanda Goldstein led the way with 13 kills. The Golden Eagles have faced Ramapo College twice this year, splitting the matchups, including a 3-0 in the season-opener.
 
NEUMANN REPORT
The Knights enter the tri-match with a 7-10 mark but are coming off a three-set victory over Wilkes Thursday night. The Knights and Red Hawks have two common opponents in Penn State-Berks and Rowan. Both teams fell to Rowan, while Montclair topped the Nittany Lions as Neumann fell in four.
 
LAST MEETING
Montclair downed St. Joseph's-LI 3-1 in 2019, as CARLY WATERMAN posted a team-high 12 kills while LEAH HIGGINS added nine. The Red Hawks and Knights have met once previously, with Montclair winning a 3-2 thriller. After dropping the first set, Montclair claimed the next two before Neumann leveled at two with a 25-15 victory. MSU fought back and won the fifth and deciding frame 15-8. Schyler White tallied 13 kills while Ashley Griffith handed out 49 assists and 12 digs.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 8-1 all-time against the Golden Eagles, including seven consecutive victories. The last three have been decided in four sets, while their lone setback came in 2003.

The Red Hawks return to NJAC play Tuesday as they host Ramapo College at 7 pm inside the Panzer Athletic Center.
