Women's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. Rowan

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team hosts Rowan University in a crucial New Jersey Athletic Conference match Saturday.

The first kick at MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 1 pm, and live stats and video links are available on montclairathletics.com. Video can also be found on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (10-4, 5-2 NJAC) knocked off Mount St. Mary College in their final non-conference match of the season. TARA LAMBERT opened the scoring in the eighth minute before SOFIA AMBROSIO tallied the game-winner in the 54th.

AWARD SEASON
ZOE STECK was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week, while defender EMMI DENOVELLIS was chosen as the NJAC Rookie of the Week. DeNovellis tallied a goal and two assists on the week, while Steck
scored four times.

SCOUTING THE PROFS
The Profs enter the contest with a 12-3 record and a 6-1 mark in the NJAC. Head Coach Scott Leacott won his 300th career game at the helm of the Profs in Monday's 2-0 shutout of Maine-Fort Kent. Jessica Logan opened the scoring in the ninth minute, while Aidan Sheehan doubled the lead in the 23rd. Emma DeMaise collected assists on both Prof tallies. 


LAST MEETING
Montclair picked up a 1-0 overtime victory over Rowan in their last meeting on September 28, 2019. SAMANTHA SENATORE scored off a feed from EMILY DEGEYTER in the 98th minute to give MSU the victory. LINDSAY FREEWALT made seven saves to earn the win.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Rowan is 8-14-8 all-time against their MSU, as the Profs won six straight matches from 2007-2012. The two sides traded one-goal victories in 2018 and 2019, and before that, five of the last seven games had ended in a draw.

Montclair State ends the regular season on Wednesday as they hit the road to face Rutgers-Newark at 7:30 pm.
