CARLY WATERMAN recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 19 digs as Montclair State swept past in-state rival FDU-Florham for its eighth straight victory on Thursday evening at the Panzer Athletic Center.

KIARA POLANCO also had a double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs as the Red Hawks (12-7) knocked off the Devils (9-8) 25-23, 25-10 and 25-16 for their second straight win against FDU-Florham, trimming the all-time series to 10-9 in favor of the Devils.
MSU trailed for a majority of the opening set and was behind 21-18 until it ripped off four straight points to take the lead. Waterman had two kill in the spurt however, a service error by the Red Hawks knotted it back up at 22-all. Montclair would take advantage of two Devils' miscue to move back on top 24-22. Abigail Rock answered with a kill to get the visitors back within a point but Polanco ended the set for the Red Hawks with a kill and the 25-23 victory.
Polanco recorded two kills during an 8-2 run opening the second set. The lead widened to 15-6 on a kill from
GIANNA ARIAS with three straight aces by Polanco extending Montclair State's lead to 22-8. FDU-Florham got the next two points, however the Red Hawks tallied the last three with Arias and
SKYLAR KOWALSKI each posting a kill in the 25-10 win.
The third set close early on until MSU gained some breathing room on the board with a four-point run to go up 13-9.
ELIZABETH KILLEEN had a kill to make the score 17-12. Polanco and
KATELYN MONAGHAN registered a kill and ace, respectively for a 22-15 lead. The Devils would get one final point on a Sophia Miskulin block before Montclair finished off the match with the final three points – a Polanco kill, Killeen block and service ace by
KELLY WATERMAN on match point.
Arias totaled seven kills and Kowalski five for MSU.
DELANEY ST. PIERRE added 32 assists and eight digs with Monaghan getting 16 digs.
Montclair State is now off until Tuesday, October 12 when they host Stockton University at the Panzer Athletic Center. First serve of the NJAC contest is set for 7:00 pm.
