Men's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. Brooklyn

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team hosts Brooklyn College in their season-opener on Thursday.

2021 IN REVIEW
The Red Hawks went 6-3 last year and advanced to the NJAC Semifinals. In the NJAC Quarterfinals, they took down William Paterson 84-78. IRVING CALLENDER IV tallied 22 points while MYLES MITCHELL-WHITE pouted in 21. On the glass, MALACHI SMYTHE grabbed 10 rebounds to aid in the victory.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
After not playing last winter, the Bulldogs fell to Old Westbury 82-50 on Tuesday night. Elisha Park led the way with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds for Brooklyn. They were playing for the first time since March 6, 2020, when they fell to Swarthmore in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
LAST MEETING
In their only previous meeting, Brooklyn came away with a 99-98 victory on November 18, 2016. The game went to double-overtime, with Brandon Channer notching a double-double of 36 points and 12 boards while Rahsaan Johnson notched one of his own. Johnson tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for MSU.

The Red Hawks continue their season-opening homestand on Saturday as they host DeSales University at 1 pm.
