Lancaster, Pa. – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams closed out competition at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational Sunday.
The men's team placed seventh overall with 433 points, as the women's team took ninth with 305.5 points.
Ryan Kappes got the men's team off to a good start on the day with a sixth-place time in the 1,650-freestyle. The sophomore touched the wall at 17:08.54. Four team members qualified for the finals to the 200-backstroke, with Dennis DeLargy placing 13th in 2:01.57 in the "B" finals. Greg Karback (2:04.25), Justin Conillas (2:04.56), and Chrystian Muhleisen (2:08.92) competed in the "C" finals, with all three outperforming their preliminary round time.
Rookie
LUCAS GOMES notched a top-10 time of 47.44 in the 100-freestyle, while
SPENSER DUBOIS (2:10.87) and
BRANDON DO (2:14.27) competed in the "B" finals of the 200-breaststroke. Montclair State was represented in the "A" finals in the 200-butterfly, as Tyler
Dorsett placed eighth in 2:01.05.
Dorsett qualified for the top finals grouping by just .3 in the preliminary round. The men's finished the three-day event with a 12th, and a 16th place finish in the 400-freestyle relay. Gomes, Dubois, Josh

DeLargy took 12th in 3:16.75 while
Karback, Santiago
Vanegas,
Dorsett, and
Kappes took 16th in 3:27.19.
Senior Taylor
Waddleton grabbed a top-10 time in the 1,650-free, touching the wall in 18:53.34. Rookie
JULIE TIEDEMANN was 12th in the same event, finishing in 19:24.34. Senior Emily
Rothamel was 13th in the 200-back, clocking in at 2:11.92 as
ERIN BARRETT was 24th in 2:22.56.
Three Red Hawks made the "C" finals in the 200-butterfly, led by Gianna
Antonelli's time of 2:26.66. Juliet
DiPasquale was right behind her in 2:26.75 while junior
MOLLY GRAY closed out the trio with a mark of 2:26.78. Montclair also had two teams in the 400-free relay, as Sophia
Shopovick, Lidia
Boguslawska, Sophia
Ciaravino, and Juliana
Skopp-Cardillo took 14th in 3:48.15. The foursome of Barrett,
Waddleton, Tiedemann and
MOLLY MOORE capped off the event in 19th with a time of 3:57.4.
The Red Hawks close out the fall semester on December 10 as they face off against the College of Staten Island at 5 pm.
