Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams close out the fall semester against Division II the College of Staten Island Friday.

The meet will be held at the Sports & Recreation Center on the campus of the College of Staten Island, beginning at 5 pm.
LAST TIME OUT
The men's team placed seventh, and the women's team took ninth at the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational that concluded on November 21. For the men,
RYAN KAPPES took sixth in the 1,650-freestyle in 17:08.54, while
LUCAS GOMES tallied a top-10 finish in the 100-free (47.44). Gomes and Kappes also qualified for the "B" final in the 500-free and 50-free, respectively, as
BRANDON DO finished 10th in the 400-IM (4:20.33). On the women's side,
LIDIA BOGUSLAWSKA qualified for the "C" finals in the 50-free and finished top-20 in the 200-free (2:00.71).
EMILY ROTHAMEL took 11th in the 100-back (1:01.23) while
TAYLOR WADDLETON placed in the top-10 in the 1,650 in 18:53.54.
AWARD SEASON
Gomes was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week after he tallied five top-15 times at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, which helped Montclair to a seventh-place team finish. On Sunday, Gomes had his best performance as he placed 10th in the 100-freestyle, finishing with a time of 47.44 in the finals. Gomes also tallied 13th place times in the 200-freestyle relay (1:29.01) and 50-freestyle (21.64) before adding an 11th place mark of 52.36. He capped off his stellar weekend by helping the 400-freestyle relay foursome to a 12th place finish in 3:16.75.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
The men's team comes in with a 2-0 mark, having topped Roberts-Wesleyan 132-96 and Mount St. Mary 150-36. In the win over Roberts Wesleyan, Anthony Attenborough broke the school record in the 1,000-freestyle while Michael Stora set a pool record in the 200-breaststroke. The women's team is also 3-0, topping Mount St. Mary 87-74 and Queens 99-87 and 133-75. Jordan Swanson set the CSI record in the one-meter dive while Jessica Johnson was .52 seconds off the school mark in the 50-free.
MEET HISTORY
The men's and women's teams have posted identical 3-0 marks against the Dolphins all-time, dating back to the first meet on November 12, 2016.
LAST MEETING
The two teams knocked off CSI by nearly identical scores, with the men's team winning 144-123 and the women's team earning a 144-122 decision on December 7, 2019.

TAYLOR WADDLETON went 1-2-3 in the 50-backstroke, as
CAMRYN VOGEL and
JACQUELINE GRAYSON took the top-two spots in the 50-free.
CHRYSTIAN MUHLEISEN won the 50-yard backstroke in 27.53, while Sam Golovin picked up triumphs in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-freestyle. Kevin Gibson notched a first-place time of 23.27 in the 50-yard freestyle.
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks will embark on a training trip and meet against Seton Hall over Winter Break before returning home to host FDU-Florham on January 19 at 3 pm.
