Men's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. Misericordia

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team hosts Misericordia University in their final game of 2021 Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State fell to Stockton University 89-82 Saturday afternoon. STEVEN BREEMAN scored 20 points for the fourth time this season and shot 80% (8-of-10) from the floor and 4-of-6 from three. IRVING CALLENDER IV added 20 points as Montclair State placed four student-athletes in double figures.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS 
The Cougars enter the contest with a 3-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. They fell to DeSales 82-68 in their last game Saturday, as Nick Hornung led with 27 points and nine rebounds. Besides DeSales, Misericordia and Montclair State each have faced Centenary. Montclair escaped with a one-point win while Misericordia fell 104-96 in overtime.
 
LAST MEETING
In their only previous meetings, Misericordia topped Montclair State 82-67. In the setback, Shaun Russell and Brandon Channer scored 19 points in reserve roles. Jason Kenny scored 31 points for Misericordia, including a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line.
 
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks close out their competition for 2021 as they compete in the Johns Hopkins Tournament on December 29th and 30th. They will face Buena Vista University on the 29th at 7 pm before facing either Johns Hopkins or Manhattanville on the 30th.
