Boguslawska, Golovin Lead Montclair Past WPU, Ramapo in Return

Duo Combines for Eight Event Victories

Montclair, NJ – Freshman LIDIA BOGUSLAWSKA won three individual events with sophomore SAMUEL GOLOVIN added two along with two relay victories as the Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept NJAC rivals William Paterson and Ramapo during a virtual meet at the Panzer Athletic Center on Saturday.

The Red Hawk men posted a 168-68 win over WPU and registered a 144-97 victory versus Ramapo. Meanwhile, the women defeated William Paterson 165-61 and Ramapo, 140-93. The meet, conducted at each school's home site, was the first official contest for MSU since last year's Metropolitan Conference Championships.

Boguslawska, competing in her first collegiate meet, swept the short freestyle events taking the 50 in a time of 25.46 and the 100 free in 56.66. She added the 500 free (5:33.29) to her wins before joining MOLLY MOORE, SOPHIA CIARAVINO, and SKYE SENER on the victorious 200 freestyle relay squad (1:47.32).

EMILY ROTHAMEL, CAMRYN VOGEL, GIANNA ANTONELLI, and Ciaravino posed a time of 1:57.82 to claim the 200 medley relay with Rothamel taking the 50 backstroke (29.20) and TAYLOR WADDLETON (2:06.15) the 200 freestyle. Dani Holmes was a winner in the 50 breaststroke (33.31) with Rothamel collecting a second win in the 100 backstroke (1:02.48). ERIN BARRETT earned the eighth individual event win for Montclair, winning the 100 individual medley (1:06.04).

Golovin swam 1:47.57 in the 200 freestyle to take top honors and later posted a time of 22.27 seconds to win the 50 freestyle. He began the day as the anchor leg of the winning 200 medley relay team, joining RYAN KAPPES, MATTHEW CIATTARELLI, and SANTIAGO VANEGAS for a time of 1:41.43. Golovin finished off the day for the Red Hawks swimming the third leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay as he combined with SPENSER DUBOIS, CHRYSTIAN MUHLEISEN, and Matt Ciattarelli for a time of 1:31.22.

Kappes was a winner in the 500 freestyle (4:58.64) with TYLER DORSETT (1:52.56) and Muhleisen (25.55) capturing the 200 freestyle and 50 backstroke, respectively. Dubois recorded a winning time of 27.16 in the 50 breaststroke while Dorsett went 24.58 seconds to win the 50 butterfly. CHRISTIAN GILIO-MALABRE (50.88) and Vanegas (51.04) went 1-2 in the 100 freestyle before Dubois earned a second win in the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 59.78 seconds. Freshmen EIKER JACOME (56.53) and PAUL HOUSER (55.74) rounded out the MSU event wins in the 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley, respectively.

Both teams return to action on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6 with another conference meet. The women will take on Kean University and The College of New Jersey with the men facing TCNJ only. The Montclair women will take on Kean in-person at the Panzer Pool with each Red Hawk squad virtually competing against the Lions. The Friday session will begin at 4:00 pm with Saturday's two sessions taking place at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, respectively.
