Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team is back in action for the first time since November 2019 as the Red Hawks host Stockton University in their 2021 Spring season opener. It's the first game action for the Red Hawks in 488 days.

THE TEAMS:
Montclair State enters the season off a successful 2019 campaign that went all the way to the NJAC Championship Game. The Red Hawks posted a 13-6-2 overall record, including a 7-1-1 mark in conference play earning the No. 2 seed in the league tournament. Montclair fell to top-seeded The College of New Jersey, 3-2 in double overtime in the title game. Stockton was just as successful going 14-3-3 before falling to the Red Hawks in the NJAC semifinals, 2-0.

Wednesday's game marks the 43
rd contest between the Red Hawks and Ospreys that began during Montclair State's inaugural season of 1990. Stockton won that first contest, 2-1 and captured the first 10 matches before the Red Hawks got their first victory, 1-0 triumph in September 1999. Despite trailing in the series, Montclair State has had the upper hand of late, going 7-1-2 in the last 10 meetings, including a 2-0 victory in the semifinals of the NJAC Tournament in 2019. Twelve times, MSU and Stockton have gone to overtime and the two have played to scoreless draws on five occasions.
