Women's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. Ursinus

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team returns home to host Ursinus College Saturday afternoon.

Game time is scheduled for 3 pm at MSU Soccer, and live stats and video will be provided on montclairathletics.com. Video is also available on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.
 
LAST TIME OUT

Montclair State suffered their first setback of the season Wednesday, falling to Vassar College 2-1. Scoreless for 72 minutes, the teams combined for three markers over the final 18 minutes. Vassar scored first before ZOE STECK netted her first goal in a Montclair uniform to pull level. The host Brewers finished the game with a goal in the 84th minute, which proved to be the difference.

SCOUTING URSINUS

The Bears enter the contest with a 1-1-1 record. In the season-opener last Thursday, they topped Eastern 1-0 before drawing with Stevenson 1-1. Raya Mount forced the draw as she equalized in the 72nd minute with a header. The Bears were topped by Arcadia 1-0, with the Knights scoring in the 59th minute on Thursday.
 
LAST MEETING

The Red Hawks and Bears met nearly two years ago to the day on September 14, 2019. The game was scoreless for 109:59 before CATHERINE CARNEVALE beat the buzzer and scored with one second remaining in the second overtime. Goalkeeper LINDSAY FREEWALT made three saves to earn the clean sheet in the victory.
 
SERIES HISTORY

Montclair is 2-0 all-time against Ursinus. The only other win in the series came in 2001 when Danielle Malyska scored the lone tally of the match in the 23rd, and Stephanie Romanko earned the shutout.
 
UP NEXT

Montclair State visits DeSales University on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup.
