Montclair, NJ - After opening the season with two straight home games, the Red Hawks return home to Sprague Field hosting Salve Regina.
Montclair (0-2) is looking for its first victory after falling last week at Delaware Valley.
DORIAN GASHI provided points for MSU as he blocked a punt in the end zone for a safety. Linebacker
ADENS GEORGES recorded 11 tackles and a sack while
SEAMUS NELSON second along with his second fumble recovery of the season.
MICHAEL STEFKOVICH (one sack) and
DOMINIC FERRARA had six tackles each.
The Seahawks (2-0) come to Montclair State winners of two straight, including a 21-16 win over MIT in their home opener. After falling behind on safety, Salve took the lead late in the second on a 55-yard pass play by Jack Maguire to Hayden Hulme. MIT regained the lead just before the half, however that lead shifted back to the Seahawks in the third. Maguire found Max DeVito for a touchdown wn connected with Hulme for a 2-pt conversion. Running back Joey Mauriello added a 45-yard run extending the lead to 21-9 with three minutes to go. MIT pulled within five with 46 seconds remaining however, Salve was able to recover the onsides kick to seal the victory. Maguire finished 14-of-28 for 209 yards while Mauriello rushed for 195 yards on 28 carries. Jack Zingaro, CJ Minchin and Zach Letellier each had six tackles for Salve Regina.
This will be the eighth meeting between the Seahawks and Hawks that began in 2011. Montclair Sate holds a 5-2 lead in the short series, including all three games at Sprague Field. The Red Hawks won the last matchup in Rhode Island in 2019, 28-11.
