Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team closes out the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic with a pair of matches Saturday morning.
THE TEAMS
The Red Hawks will take on Penn State Berks at 10 am before concluding the weekend against Messiah College at 12 pm.
LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State dropped a pair of matches on the opening day of the tournament. Leading 2-0 against Galluadet, the Bison stormed back to win the next three to win 3-2. The fifth frame was tight, but the Bison rallied off the final three points to win 16-14. In the nightcap, the Red Hawks fell in straight sets, including identical 25-21 scores in the second and third stanzas.

NITTANY LIONS REPORT
The Nittany Lions dropped two matches Friday, falling 3-0 to host Gettysburg and 3-1 to Messiah. In the match against the Bullets, Sarah Nichols and Kayla Zelonka each tallied nine kills while Julia Rathsam handed out 32 assists and 10 digs.
SCOUTING MESSIAH
The Falcons went 1-1 on the first day, topping Penn State Berks in four before falling to Rowan in four frames. Mackenzie Feight led the way with 15 kills against Penn State Berks, while Kristen Seibert handed out 33 assists.
LAST MEETINGS
Montclair State last faced off against Penn State Berks in 2011, falling 3-0 on September 24, 2011. Alyssa Batiste and Danielle Salemo each had four kills, while Angela Campo handed out a team-high 13 helpers. The Red Hawks battled Messiah last on September 3, 2016, falling 3-0. Hayley Merrill notched 12 kills as current Assistant Coach Rebecca Matasker chipped in four blocks.
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is a combined 0-4 against their two opponents. The Red Hawks have dropped three matches to Messiah, including a five-set setback on November 1, 2008.
