Men's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. Rowan

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team welcomes Rowan University for a Wednesday evening New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State (6-5, 2-4 NJAC) earned one of their biggest wins of the year Wednesday, topping Rutgers-Newark (8-4, 5-1 NJAC) 62-59 to hand the Scarlet Raiders their first NJAC loss of the year. STEVEN BREEMAN converted three late throws and led MSU with 19 points, while DEVIN COOPER scored 14 points.

SCOUTING THE PROFS
The Profs are 12-2 but fell to Rutgers-Newark 66-60 Saturday afternoon. Rowan puts up a ton of points, scoring over 100 in five games and in the 90s in three other games. Josh Wright paced the Profs with 23 points while D'Andre Vilmar chipped in 11 boards in the setback to Rutgers-Newark.
 
LAST MEETING
The Profs knocked off Montclair State 94-86 in their last matchup on February 8, 2020. The Red Hawks led 45-40 at the break but were outscored 54-41 over the final 20 minutes. TIM ALGENIO led the way with 18 points, while Jalen Parham added 17 points off the bench.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State is 56-74 all-time against Rowan and has dropped four of the last five meetings. Their lone victory during the stretch came on January 11, 20202, as they picked up an 89-84 win inside the Panzer Athletic Center. The Red Hawks' best period came in the mid-60's-early '70s when they won 10 straight games.
