Red Hawks Drop NJAC Contest with First-Place Rowan

Duffy Nets 13 for Montclair State

Montclair, NJ – Junior forward Dakota Adams posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds leading Rowan to a 65-47 victory over Montclair State at the Panzer Athletic Center on Wednesday evening.

Nicole Mallard added a game-high 20 points along with eight rebounds as the Profs stretched their winning streak to five games, improving to 9-5 overall, 7-1 in the NJAC.

MEGAN DUFFY posted 13 points and six rebounds for MSU (6-7, 4-4 NJAC).

Rowan scored 11 of the game's first 13 points and led 16-7 after one quarter. Two free throws by Adams with 4:47 to play in the second, staked the Profs to a 24-9 advantage before, Montclair closed out the half with an 11-2 run. Duffy ignited that run with two free throws and five straight by NICKIE CARTER got the Red Hawks within 25-16 with 1:54 remaining. Duffy connected on a jumper before Rowan's Kate Herlihy snapped the run with a jumper inside the final minute. TRISHA PETERSON floated in a basket with 35 seconds to go as Montclair State drew within 26-20 at the break.

Rowan quickly added to its lead in the third quarter with a 16-0 run over a five-minute span. Adams and Mallard had six apiece as the Profs connected of 7-of-9 from the field during that spurt. Mallard got the last score, a layup with 5:08 to go making the score 42-20.

The Profs would maintain their double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Carter had 10 points with JULIA SUTTON adding nine for the Red Hawks. Peterson tallied eight points along with 14 rebounds, her third double-digit rebounds game of the year. KELLY SMITH pulled down 10 boards for MSU.

Montclair State is next in action on Saturday, January 15 as it meets New Jersey City University at the John J. Moore Athletic Complex in Jersey City, NJ t 1:00 pm. It will be the first meeting between the two since last April's NJAC Championship Game won by the Gothic Knights.
