Swimming & Diving: Meet Day Preview vs. Drew

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams host Drew University Saturday afternoon.

The meet will begin at noon inside the Panzer Athletic Center Pool, and video links are available on montclairathletics.com.
 
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT
The men's team topped Ramapo 168-89 Saturday and the meet strong by notching a triumph in the opening 200-medley relay. DENNIS DELARGY, SPENSER DUBOIS, LUCAS MIGLIN, and LUCAS GOMES turned in a time of 1:40.8. RYAN KAPPES and SEAN NUGENT went 1-2 in both distance events, as Kappes registered first-place marks of 10:22.95 in the 1,000 and 5:05.43 in the 500. TYLER DORSETT led a trio of Red Hawks in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:01.38, as JOHN ENGLERT and JOHN MORRIS were behind him. Gomes made it two victories with a mark of 22.09 in the 50-free before DeLargy tallied his first individual triumph in the 200-backstroke (2:06.06).
 
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
The women's team knocked off Ramapo 166-88, with the Red Hawks opening the day with the top-two times in the 200-medley relay. SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, ABBY BROCK, CATTY GEYER, and ROURKE PERALTA were first in 1:54.51, with ERIN BARRETT, LILI SHAY, JULIET DI PASQUALE, and JULIANA SKOPP-CARDILLO clocking in at 1:59.38. Geyer led a trio of Red Hawks in the 200-free, touching the wall in 2:05.36. Skopp-Cardillo was second in 2:09.97 as AVA MAFFUCCI was third in 2:13.09. Shopovick won her first individual event in the 100-back, clocking in at 1:02.54 with Barrett behind her in 1:03.97. Brock placed first in the 100-breaststroke, finitizing in 1:11.58 before Shay and SYDNEY MCGANN were behind her in 1:13.69 and 1:14.32, respectively. Peralta notched her first collegiate individual victory in the 50-free with a time of 25.07 before claiming the 100-free in 57.1.

MCLAUGHLIN MILESTONE
With the victory over Ramapo on the women's side, Head Coach Brian McLaughlin recorded his 200th career women's victory.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State is 22-5 on the men's side and 23-4 on the women's side against Drew. The women had their 18-meet win streak snapped by the Rangers last year, while the men broke a two-meet losing skid last season.
