Volleyball: Gameday Preview vs. Hunter and Widener

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team hosts Hunter and Widener in a tri-match Saturday.

GAME INFO
Montclair will face Hunter College at 11 am and Widener University at 3 pm. The two other teams square off at 1 pm in the middle match of the day. Live stats and video links are available on montclairathletics.com, while video can also be found on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (13-11) served up a season-best 20 aces en route to a four-set victory over Trinity (Conn.) Thursday. LEAH HIGGINS posted a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs as EMMA HATCHER picked up a team-high 21 digs.

SCOUTING HUNTER
The Hawks are 15-6 on the season, including a perfect 6-0 in the CUNYAC. They saw their two-match winning streak snapped by Merchant Marine in non-conference action Thursday evening.

SCOUTING WIDENER
The Pride enter the tri-match with a 10-12 record and are even in the MAC Commonwealth at 3-3. Like Hunter, they had a two-match winning streak snapped this week, dropping a five-set decision to Eastern on Wednesday.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 12-12 all-time against Hunter and snapped a two-game losing skid to the Hawks last year. The Red Hawks have won both contests against Widener, picking up victories in 1998 and 2000.

LAST MEETING 
Montclair State won 3-1 in their last game against Widener on September 16, 2000, and earned a 3-2 victory over Hunter on October 16, 2021. CARLY WATERMAN tallied a team-high 15 kills as NADYA ACKERMANIAN slammed down 13 kills in the victory.

UP NEXT
The Red Hawks visit No. 6 NYU Tuesday at 7 pm. The match will be held in Brooklyn, NY, on the campus of St. Francis-Brooklyn.
