Swimming and Diving Splits With Vassar

Men's Team Wins 10 Events En Route To Victory

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Montclair State men's swimming and diving team took first place in 10 events as they topped Vassar 149-123 Friday.
 
The men's moved to 3-0 with the win, as the women's team (2-1) fell 180.5-109.5.
 
MEN'S RECAP
  • The 200-medley relay team of DENNIS DELARGY, SPENSER DUBOIS, TYLER DORSETT, and LUCAS GOMES got the team started with a first-place time of 1:38.31 in the opening event. DeLargy also tallied first place in the 100-backstroke (56.02) and the 200-backstroke (2:03.31), as Dubois grabbed first in the 100-breaststroke (59.77).
  • Dorsett also picked up an individual win as he touched the wall in 1:58.77 in the 200-butterfly, with Gomes tallying wins in the 50-freestyle (21.58) and 100-freestyle (48.31). RYAN KAPPES and SEAN NUGENT went 1-2 in the 1,000-free, as Kappes turned in a time of 10:14.5.
  • Rookie ANTHONY FERRARO captured first in the 200-free (1:51.23) before BRANDON DO capped the individual victories with a time of 2:13.9 in the 200-breaststroke.
WOMEN'S RECAP
  • The foursome of SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, ABBY BROCK, CATTY GEYER, and ROURKE PERALTA grabbed first in the 200-medley relay, clocking in .13 seconds ahead of their opponent in 1:53.03. Shopovick took second in the 100-back, as she finished in 1:02.03.
  • Brock recorded a victory in the 100-breaststroke (1:10.32), with LILI SHAY placing third in 1:13.28. Peralta was edged by a mere .01 in the 50-free, taking second in 25.37. The rookie also notched a second-place time in the 100-free, touching the wall in 56.44.
  • Shopovick registered another second-place tally, finishing the 200-breast in 2:15.87 before JULIE TIEDEMANN was second in the 500-free (5:27.31). Peralta and Geyer went 1-2 in the 100-fly, as Peralta was first in 1:02.6 and Geyer tied for second in 1:02.86.
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks resume NJAC action on November 5 as they head to Rowan for a noon start.
