Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State football team returns home to host Kean Saturday night.

The Red Hawks are led by Head Coach Rick Giancola, who enters his 40th season at the helm. He enters the 2022 campaign as the active winningest coach in Division III and is fourth among all NCAA coaches. He has led MSU to 11 NJAC titles and nine NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (2-3) were topped by Salisbury 30-7 in their NJAC opener Saturday. BRENNAN RAY recovered a fumble and took it back 21 yards for the lone MSU score of the day. NICHOLAS BURGESS tallied nine tackles, with MIKE RAMOS, Ray, and OMARIE WILMORE adding eight.

SCOUTING KEAN
Kean comes into the contest with a 1-4 record and fell to William Paterson in their NJAC opener last week. All four setbacks are by 10 points or less, and they notched a win in week three over Catholic.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair holds a 37-10 edge in the series and has never lost more than two consecutive meetings against the Cougars. The Red Hawks' best stretch came from September 13, 1975 – September 27, 1986, when they won 12 straight.
 
LAST MEETING
Kean came away with a 15-7 victory last fall, as Donte Jamison scored two rushing touchdowns. Montclair State got within eight with 14 seconds to go as JA'QUILL BURCH hit JAMIE HAMILTON for a 23-yard touchdown. Montclair State could not get the onside kick, and Kean clinched the win with a first down.
