Women's Soccer: Game Day Preview vs. Chrstopher Newport (NCAA Second Round)

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team hosts No. 3 Christopher Newport in the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament Saturday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm at MSU Soccer Park, with live stats and video links available on montclairathletics.com. Video can also be found on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $3 for students/senior citizens/children. 

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State blanked Lynchburg 1-0 in Saturday's First Round of the NCAA Tournament. After a scoreless first half, the Red Hawks broke through thanks to a corner kick. EMMI DENOVELLIS served the ball in, and KERRI DRISCOLL headed it home, putting MSU on the board in the 56th minute. The defense did the rest and pushed the team into the Second Round.

NJAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS
The Red Hawks (17-2-1, 8-1-0 NJAC) topped Kean 3-1 in their regular-season finale on October 26 and, thanks to Rowan's 0-0 draw with Stockton, claimed the NJAC Regular Season Championship. AILEEN CAHILL, LAUREN ERNST, and KYLIE PRENDERGAST tallied a goal and an assist apiece in the win.

MONTCLAIR STATE NCAA HISTORY
Montclair State is making its eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its first since 2016. They are 10-6-1 and have advanced to the Second Round in all eight appearances.

SCOUTING CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT
The defending National Champions, Christopher Newport, opened the NCAA Tournament with a 6-0 rout of John Jay Saturday. The Captains outshot John Jay 27-0, including 18-0 on goal. Six different Captains tallied goals, as Jaya Daniel and Abby Ochs combined for the clean sheet.

UP NEXT
A berth to the Sectional Semifinal is on the line, with the advancing team facing the advancing group of the Trinity (Tx) pod next weekend at a date, time, and location to be determined.
