Women's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. Rowan (NJAC Championship)

Montclair, NJ – The No. 12/13 and top-seeded Montclair State women's soccer team hosts No. 2 seed Rowan University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Game.

TICKET INFO
The first 50 Montclair State students with ID will be admitted free of charge. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for students/senior citizens/children. All ticket sales are CASH ONLY.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State outlasted Rutgers-Camden in penalty kicks after a scoreless 110 minutes. EMMI DENOVELLIS, KIMBERLY CAMPBELL, AILEEN CAHILL, KERRI DRISCOLL, and NIKI DANZ converted penalty kicks to send the team into the NJAC Championship Game.

NJAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS
The Red Hawks (16-1-1, 8-1-0 NJAC) topped Kean 3-1 in their regular-season finale on October 26 and, thanks to Rowan's 0-0 draw with Stockton, claimed the NJAC Regular Season Championship. AILEEN CAHILL, LAUREN ERNST, and KYLIE PRENDERGAST tallied a goal and an assist apiece in the win.

MONTCLAIR STATE NJAC HISTORY
Montclair State has made 22 appearances in the NJAC Women's Soccer Championship since its inception in 1999. The Red Hawks are 14-14-12, including 8-4 in penalty kicks. MSU has claimed four championships in 2004, 2012, 2014, and 2021 (spring) while reaching the championship game 11 times. Montclair and Rowan have met six times in the NJAC Tournament, going 2-2-2 against Rowan and fell 1-0 in the NJAC Semifinals last season.

SCOUTING ROWAN
The Profs enter the championship with a 12-0-4 record and have surrendered just three goals all season and none since September 10. Rowan topped No. 3 seed TCNJ 1-0 in the NJAC Semifinals to move on.

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 9-16-8 against Rowan, and the two sides have split the last four meetings after three consecutive draws. Rowan is 7-6-4 in Montclair and has picked 13 wins during NJAC play.

LAST MEETING
Rowan handed Montclair State their only loss of the season on October 8, picking up a 1-0 win down in Glassboro. Montclair was unable to capitalize despite holding a 6-0 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes. Nina Carlson scored the game-winner in the 80th minute, and MSU could not find the equalizing tally.
